I have a 1998 chevy silverado with a 350 in it. Its a 2wd truck. When I try starting it in the morning it takes about 8 to 10 trys. Once its runing its good to go. But when ever its cold its hard to start. The truck has a new fuelpump, plugs, wires, pcv valve, I put a waterpump on it last year but last winter my heat did not work well. I flushed the system put a new thermostat also but it smeled like it was running hot when it was not oh i put a heatercore in 2 years ago. the truck has 80.ooo on the clock... whatch think.

Where is the thermostat on a 98 Chevy Blazer?

Hi, my 98 Blazer died shortly after refilling an empty gas tank. My first thought was blocked fuel filter but after replacing filter still won't start. I hear the pump run for about 5 seconds then shut off and there is positive pressure at the engine side of fuel filter. (I got soaked with gas when I popped the fuel line off.) I'm guessing now that it may be the pressure regulator. Is there an easy way to check for this and is it a difficult job to change one out. Thanks M.H.

I have a 1996 Chevrolet S10 Blazer 4X4 & when it is cold the engine has to roll over several times to start. When it is warm it runs & starts fine. I have replaced coil, wires, plugs, fuel filter, rotor button & cap. Can anyone answer this question before I have to take it into the local Chevrolet Garage & spend a fortune! Thanks Henry

I have a 2001 silverado, I recently changed the plugs and wires, and the fuel filter. I then ran a diognostic on the computer and all systems checked out fine. When I try to start it it fires but wont stay running, regaurdless of triing to pump the gas pedal. I thought maybe it could be the fuel pump, if so what would be the easiest way to change that. If its not what else could it be. Thank you

Justin, I just ran across your problem on the internet and I suppose you’ve fixed the problem by now. However, in case you didn’t, check the fuel pump regulator on the driver’s side on the fuel rail. That’s what‘s wrong with my 2000 Silverado. The diaphragm has a hole and is leaking fuel into the engine and causing flooding. It starts fine he first time in the morning but hard to start every time after. To get it started you need to press the accelerator a little less than half way and hold, then start the engine. That will open the throttle to allow more air to enter to get a better mix. The proof is run the engine for a minute or so, shut off then pull off the vacuum line. If fuel is present at the vacuum port of the regulator then fuel is leaking into the manifold and causing flooding. The regulator is small but may run around $100.

hey i had similar problems to everyone else on here with my 96 blazer not wanting to start cold at all. usually took about 5 to 10 minutes of cranking but when warm fired up first turn. the fuel pressure regulators on those motors goes all the time about $70 for the part and not too hard to change. Good Luck.

I have a 94 Chevy Blazer with a vortec engine. I can get it started, but it dies after a short time. It has a new fuel pump. I checked all the fuel lines, fuel filter, fuses, all clear. It still won't stay running. And yes, it does have gas in it. Any ideas on what to do next?

My silverado died on the freeway. i noticed before it died as i was trying to pass someone that it just felt like it ran out of gas when the pedal got depressed, when i brought it back to where it was it ran fine. i tried to limp home and it started getting worse, to where i could only get around 1400 rpm out of it. came to a light died...had it towed it home, i get no noise out of the pump when key is on, is this normal? also i took out the fuel filter, then turned the key on, no fuel comes out at all, and no sound. it sounds to me like bad electric motor or electrical on the fuel pump, or the pump is siezed and mtor cant turn it. by the way the relay is fine. I should be getting fuel out of the fuel line when the filter is removed right? HELP

I have a 2000 chevy Blazer that I purchased a few months ago, since I have replaced the fuel Injector A.K.A "the spider also replaced the fuel tank pressure sensor..Since the day I did picked it up after shuttingt he engine off coolant comes out.It doesn't read hot. Now while I am driving it either dies but restarts or it bogs out while holding the gas down, but when you let off the gas it holds steady. I'm not sure what this is wether I need to replace the fuel pump or as simple as a fuel filter? Also could they have loosened something putting the gas tank back up due to putting the fuel tank sensor in???

the 20A Power Accy (relay?) heats up after moving the seats, clicks off then the door locks don't work. After cooling a bit everything comes back. But it will still heat up at the next driving of the Blazer.

Can anyone help? I have a 1992 Chevy S-10 Blazer V-6 TBI that over a 2 week period starting losing power when accelerating. Started out as a miss, but then got to be a bad miss. Then one day it started bogging down to the point it died. It appears to be flooding itself out. I have changed plugs, wires, distributor parts, checked the coil, checked for codes but does not read any, changed fuel pump and sending unit, changed the fuel regulator, what else is left?? I can see the injectors pumping fuel into the carb. If it sits and gas dries up, i can start it, but it will eventually die or if i give it any gas it dies automatically.. i know i am flooding it out, it acts as if the spark and gas mixture isnt timing right.. could it be out of time?? i tried to manually adjust timing but that didnt seem to work...any other ideas would be great..thanks

Help! I have a 1999 blazer and it will not start. I have replaced the fuel pump twice and fuel filter once. If I pour gas down through the throttle body it will start. both times I replaced the fuel pump it ran fine for a while then quit again. the fuel pump seems to be working fine now. I took it to local mechanic shop and they said it was the security system or the body control module and suggested that i send it to the chevy dealership. the chevy dealer said it was not the security system and that they wanted to drop the gas tank and check for kinked gas lines. then said if that was not the problem then it was the fuel pump and it would all cost about a thousand dollars. so I had it towed back to my house. I don't see how it could be the fuel pump again. does anyone know what could be the problem. Thanks

For those of you in this forum who have experienced a loss of power or hesitation with a 4.3 Vortec, I had a similar problem with my 2000 Blazer for a while until a mechanic thought of the mass airflow sensor. After a thorough cleaning, engine power was restored and I haven't had trouble since.

I have a 96 Chevy Blazer with a 4.6 Vortec engine. When I try to start the truck, all it does is turn over. It won't start. But if I pour gasoline into the throttle body it will start right up. I have changed the fuel filter and the fuel pump. My next guess is the fuel pressure regulator. Do you think that could be the problem. It also has new plugs, rotor, cap and wires. The code I have been getting says something about the camshaft position sensor. Could that also be the problem?

1998 Olds Bravada MEchanic did routine tune-up on vehicle, the next day vehicle would not start. after towing it back to his shop he said the fuel pump had ran all night long and ran battery dead as well as pumped fuel all through motor and out the exhaust??? Is this possible, and if so what would cause this? He tells me it pumps fuel even with the fuel pump relay removed. Does this have something to do with the oil pressure switch (which he has never metioned). He only says it is the remote start wgich was professionally installed and worked fine for over a year, with no problems. Now i have a remote start that doesnt work and had to pay 1200.00 and vehicle still doesnt run right. Please help

most of these problems on this site are the same problem regardless of the make and model of your car chevy's fuel delivery system seems to be contingant on so many electrical devices it bound to fail ........ check your air filter try an additive like injector cleaner . if u still have an issue check your pressure and see if pump is running and yes its normal to turn off once pressure is achieved u can check pressure from the fuel rail on the block .u may also get a code light that tells u to replace a sensor more often then not this is false i replaced all mine 3 of em for around 230.00 usd just for the parts and the problem persisted sooo.... if u check pressure and its fine time to remove tank and look for obstructions in fuel canister also check fuel pump wiring to make sure its secure and well grounded.... finally if u still cant figure it out there is an electronice ignigtion switch that will often fail so try pulling your ignition out and maybe replacing your fuel regulator .... if none of this help you take it to the shop srry ................. as for mr 420 who literally gave his car electro shock therapy by jumping his dc car battery with 120 from his home ......mmmmmmmmm.... marijuana kills brain cells now you know . lol

I have a 1996 Chevy S10 Blazer. Runs fine but once it get warmed up real good it cuts out. You can see the tacometer drop when it cuts out almost like turning off the key. Goes dead for a second. We changed the fuel filter and that didn't help. Almost seems electrical. After it cools down for awhile and you start the car again it runs great until it heats up again. Seems to cut out mostly at very slow speeds like when trying to park or at high speeds like on the highway. One time when cutting out at the slow speed the service enging light came on. But after letting the car cool down when I started it up the light was off and it ran fine again. It doesn't overheat and reaches normal temperture and stays there. When driving on the highway it usually takes at least 20 minutes before it starts cutting out. Any suggestions? Please advise. We are stumped.Joe

My 01 blazer has issues. sometimes when you turn the key the dash lights come on as well as the headlights. However the engine does nothing. It does not do it all the time and if you are persistant and are willing to turn the key about 10 to 20 times you might get lucky. It is happening more and more these days. Someone told me it could be something to do with the security system GM put on it. That there are two wires you can solder together to bypass the system is this true?
