Chevrolet-2500 Pickup -
Wont shhift into gear

The ebrake light is on and the "check gauges" light is on. Withe the temp guage maxed out. Wont shift into gear untill all those lights are off. I also recently broke a key into the ignition. Left the key in and turn it with a flathead screw driver.
What is the problem?>
