Cadillac-Escalade - Is it advisable to use accessories like brake dust shields

I have a pre-owned Escalade and I am thinking about upgrading it. Does anyone know if adding parts like brake dust shields would help me fend off those brake problems in the future. I found that site which of course says a lot of good things about them brake dust shields but is it really worth having one?
